What are you grateful for?

I’m grateful that, even for a day, there is a roof over our heads and food on our table; and that, in spite of all of our challenges, we were all healthy enough to gather and enjoy a day together.

Just as importantly, both for myself and for everyone, I am grateful for the fruits of an intensive, reflective practice, so that when that moment came when my daughter’s exceptionally caustic wit struck me like a lightning bolt, I was able to send it to ground.

I’m grateful that nothing from this gathering should leave anyone dreading the next.
